Paul Haslegrove & Rusty Steel

Do you remember the Blues Brothers movie when the band turned up and started playing soul music? The venue has the chicken wire up and the audience don’t look too friendly. The local at the bar says ‘we like both types of music – country and western’. Well Rusty Steel do both kinds, and really well and wouldn’t need the chicken wire as protection.
The musical style of Rusty Steel drifts between tear jerking country and rollicking rock and roll. With comparisons made to Jerry Jeff Walker, John Prine and others, this album is a collection of short stories, most based on the events mentioned above and the trickle down effects of such unfathomable heartbreak. Other songs are painfully honest personal reflections; others are heartfelt and believable social comments. For example, This Place, written in 2001 focuses on the need for all human beings to work together to arrest global warming.
Listening to this band is like slipping into a comfortable pair of shoes. So for a bit of good time country rock ‘n’ roll check these guys out.
