Lanie Lane

Adding sass to the smoky, sultry sounds of a bygone era, Lanie Lane (pronounced “Lannie”) is an undeniable talent who draws on the past and plants it very firmly in the here and now. Imbued with the spirit of Muddy Waters, and channeling the grit of Billie Holiday, Lanie Lane wraps the sounds of a golden age around a voice that is as rich and warm as it is sweet. Her delivery is distinct - earthy, with the elbow grease to get the job done, but tied up with a colourful ribbon and handed over with grace and charm.

At the beginning of 2011, Lanie won a slot on the Sydney Big Day Out line-up thanks to Triple J’s Unearthed competition and also gained attention as the voice accompanying Mr. Tim Rogers on You Am I’s single ‘Trigger Finger’. Cramming as much touring, recording and general musical activity into the months that followed, Lanie performed sold-out shows at the Sydney Festival and Adelaide Fringe, completed a national tour throughout March supporting US legend Justin Townes Earle and packed out three of her own shows at Sydney’s super fantastic Shady Pines Saloon.

After jumping on the big silver bird in May to play her very first shows in LA, New York and London, Lanie returned to Australia to team up with the lovely Miss Clare Bowditch. Not only did they write and record their duet ‘Now You’re Home’, but in a collaborative effort the ladies hit the road ‘in cahoots’ for the Winter Secrets tour which weaved its way throughout all major capital cities for over a month through the middle of the year. She signed with Ivy League Records, and further shows with Fitz and the Tantrums and a Splendour appearance followed.

Lanie’s debut album is released in Australia in mid October. Ms Lane is set to take her timeless sound and irrepressible presence to a whole new level this year. Get ready.
