Late nights, flickering neon, blue smoke and beer fueled dance freak-outs over a gravely wailing saxophone - think New Orleans processionals meets Twin Peaks. This is Jazz Party. Melbourne’s Monday night secret society led by former saxophonist and songwriter of Clairy Browne & The Bangin Rackettes Darcy McNulty andsupreme diva and ex-Rackette Loretta Miller.

“Essentially we are a dirty beatnik rock n’roll band who play jazz and soul music” – Darcy McNulty.

Jazz Party return to Mullum Music Festival after their late night residencies every night at the Village Vanguard in 2014 and 2015.They spent 2016 recording their debut album with renowned producer Steven Schram (Clairy Browne & the Bangin Rackettes, San Cisco, Tinpan Orange). Their songs have been hailed the "rock'n’roll version of Thriller", having an “old school great energy”, and they’ve been alongside Devendra Banhart, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Dead Man’s Bones.

Performance highlights in the last 12 months have included Golden Plains, By the Meadow, Castlemaine State Festival, New Years Evie as well as supporting the likes of Lake Street Dive. They release their debut album in late 2017.
